Wool Dryer Balls, a Reusable Alternative to Disposable Dryer Sheets

Dense wool balls that go into the drum with a wet load and bounce through the folds, keeping fabric separated and hot air moving. They stand in for dryer sheets and liquid softener, and because they go back in every wash there is nothing left to throw away afterwards.

They shorten drying time, soften what comes out, and leave behind fewer wrinkles, tangles, static and lint. Being handmade, each one varies a little in size, shape, colour and texture. If static shows up, the load is probably over-dried — try a moisture-sensing cycle or take the washing out sooner. A few drops of essential oil on the balls will scent a load if you like that.
